Hello, I’m Jo — the hands and heart behind Bumble Beads. The name was inspired by our beautiful ten-year-old Australian Labradoodle: Bumble
Jewellery is perhaps the oldest form of recycling. Precious metals can be melted down and remade, while antique and vintage beads can be restrung, redesigned and given an entirely new character. With a little care, imagination and heart, the possibilities are endless.
Where Our Pieces Come From
Every piece at Bumble Beads has a story.
I source vintage, pre-loved and recycled elements, from antique beads and reclaimed findings to semi-precious stones with histories all their own. I believe jewellery should never be disposable and that the most beautiful pieces are often those that have already lived a little.
By giving these materials a new life, I’m not only creating beautiful jewellery; I’m preserving a small piece of the past and helping to keep quality materials in circulation.
Quality That Lasts
The market is increasingly flooded with inexpensive metal jewellery components, and buying something new no longer guarantees good quality. In my experience, well-made clasps, beads and findings from decades ago often retain their colour and shine far better than many modern alternatives.
As someone whose skin is particularly sensitive to poor-quality metals, I’m very careful about the components I use. Some elements may be new where appropriate, but they are always carefully selected and tested before being incorporated into any Bumble Beads design.
Crafted With Care
Each piece is thoughtfully restrung, redesigned or reimagined by hand. From delicate strands of vintage pearls to bold semi-precious statement necklaces, every item is carefully finished so that it is ready to be worn, enjoyed and loved again.
Quality is at the heart of everything I do. In the unlikely event that a piece purchased from Bumble Beads becomes damaged, please email me and I will always do my best to repair it.
I can also repair and revive many pieces of costume jewellery. If you have a sentimental item that is broken, too long or too short, or simply in need of restringing, cleaning or modernising, please get in touch to discuss what may be possible.
