Vintage Deep Red Amber Bead Necklace with Insect Inclusion

A wonderfully intriguing vintage bead necklace in rich, deep cherry-red tones, with a remarkable secret hidden within.

Under ordinary light, the graduated round beads appear a sumptuous dark burgundy-red, becoming beautifully translucent fiery red, orange and golden amber when illuminated from behind.

Close examination of one of the beads has revealed an extraordinary fully enclosed insect inclusion, accompanied by tiny fragments of naturally occurring organic-looking material. The inclusion is subtle and was not part of the original description of the necklace — it was discovered only during our examination of the beads.

The insect can be seen remarkably clearly when the bead is illuminated, its delicate legs and body preserved within the material.
