A truly impressive vintage natural amber necklace, distinguished by its substantial weight, exceptional graduation and wonderfully rich egg-yolk and butterscotch colouring.

Measuring approximately 33 inches (84 cm) long and weighing 68 grams, the necklace is composed of individually shaped oval amber beads graduating dramatically from approximately 12 mm at the smallest to an impressive 30 mm central bead.

The amber has a beautiful saturated golden-yellow to deep egg-yolk orange colour, with the larger beads displaying particularly attractive cloudy, swirling and marbled internal characteristics. Variations can be seen from bead to bead in colour, opacity, shape and internal structure, giving the necklace the individuality and character associated with natural vintage amber.

Rather than being uniformly manufactured, the graduated beads have subtle differences in their profiles and proportions. The exceptionally large central beads create a bold focal point, while the gradual reduction towards the back allows this substantial necklace to sit elegantly when worn.

Carefully Revived

The necklace has been carefully restrung, retaining the original beads and preserving its vintage character. Its original screw-barrel clasp has also been retained, polished and reused, rather than replacing it with a modern fitting.

This sympathetic restoration means the necklace is ready to wear while maintaining an important part of the original piece.
